You can hold tournaments with a score-ranking system using Salmon Run where players compete to collect the most Golden Eggs and scales.

Tournament Manager is a service to help people organize and participate in tournaments for the Splatoon 3 game. It''s an extension of the SplatNet 3 service, which is located within Nintendo Switch App.

Tournament Manager Help

For tournaments held with Tournament Manager, you can check the details or enter through the Tournament Overview page. Open the URL provided by the director on the Tournament Overview to access SplatNet 3 and proceed. The tournament page shows an overview, the start time and schedule, and how the score is calculated.

If you''re unable to participate after the tournament begins, the team captain can withdraw your team. This will not count as canceling the entry. If a team withdraws, their records up to that point will be deleted and the team will display as withdrawn in the tournament results.

The team captain can cancel a tournament entry up until the start of the tournament.

Be sure to review Tournament Manager to see info on the tournament progress.

You can view All Records and Team Records from the Tournament Records tab on the Tournament Results page.

After participating in a tournament, you will be issued a Tournament Record Certificate that lists your team''s records. You can post this certificate to social media using the Share button in SplatNet 3. Tournament Record Certificates are kept for 180 days.

Once a tournament begins, a Tournament Manager room will appear in the Friends menu in the Grizzco lobby. You can wait in that room for the shift to begin. For teams of three players or fewer, matching with external users will occur after everyone in the room is ready.

Entering a Tournament Manager Room

Shifts completed in Tournament Manager rooms will be scored within Tournament Manager.

If even one team member participating in the tournament stays connected until the end of the shift, the results will count. However, if all members disconnect during the shift due to a communication error or other reason, then it will be treated as a shift that failed in wave 1 with no Golden Eggs collected or scales acquired.

Completing Shifts

The number of shifts reflected in the rankings will vary by round time.

When the calculation method is total of all shift scores or top score.

The rankings are tentative and reflect shift scores for each team up to a point. The number of shifts reflected in the rankings differs based on the score-calculation method. Rankings update approximately every minute, and updates will stop once each team finishes its shifts. The final rankings will not be published until the results are announced after the round ends.

The following will determine the number of shifts reflected in the rankings.

The rankings reflect scores up until half the specified number of shifts are completed.

For example, if the specified number is 5, scores up until the 3rd shift will be reflected in the rankings.

When the calculation method is total score for a number of specified shifts.

In the finals round, players are split into groups based on their preliminary rankings. The director can set the number of Teams per Finals Group when creating the tournament.

The rankings page shows in-progress shift results as a ranked list for teams participating in the tournament. Rankings update approximately every minute.

A value calculated using the number of Golden Eggs and scales collected in each shift.

You can change tournament settings up until the registration period ends. Participants will only be notified if the tournament schedule changes.

However, you cannot change the types of divisions you''ve specified once you''ve created a tournament.

When the registration period ends, tournament settings can no longer be changed.

A team that does not meet the required number of players by the end of the registration period will automatically have its entry canceled.

Salmon Run tournaments progress automatically once the start time arrives. As the tournament progresses, the director should keep track of rankings and tournament results.

Once started, tournaments will generally progress automatically. To review progress, visit Rankings and reference the navigation in the orange area.

No Participating-Team Limit for each division

Salmon Run tournaments progress automatically once underway. As soon as the tournament begins, you''ll be able to view Rankings and other navigation related to the event.

Participants will complete Regular Jobs or work the Big Run if one is active during the tournament.

You can review the schedule for the current and upcoming Salmon Runs in SplatNet 3.

It is not possible to hold tournaments across shift-rotation times.

Salmon Run tournaments using Tournament Manager are held using Regular Jobs and Big Runs. Participants compete for the top score during the tournament, which is calculated using the number of Golden Eggs collected and scales acquired during each shift. The scores for each shift are calculated using the following formula.

Points for acquired scales are counted as follows.

In the event of a tie, rankings will be determined in the following order.

Basic Rules

The total score will be calculated from all shifts you participated in within the time limit. Only cleared shifts will be included in the calculation. However, shifts can still be considered cleared even if players fail to defeat a King Salmonid.

Total Score of All Shifts

Under top score, players will compete for the highest total among Golden Eggs collected and scale points acquired during shifts that were completed during the time limit. When creating a tournament, the director can set how many of the top scores will be included in the total separately for both number of Golden Eggs collected and scale points acquired. Only cleared shifts will be included in the calculation. However, shifts can be considered cleared even if players fail to defeat a King Salmonid.

If you''re defeated in a shift, you''ll lose some points based on the wave in which you lost.

For the shift results shown below (labeled A-E), the total score would be calculated as 140 + 123 + 23 - 30 - 5 = 251p. Shifts B and D are included in the calculation for Golden Eggs collected, and shift E is included for scale points.

A. Golden Eggs x 45 (defeated in wave 1: -30p)

B. Golden Eggs x 140 / bronze x 1, silver x 1, gold x 2 (21 scale points)

C. Golden Eggs x 130 (defeated in wave 3: -5p)

E. Golden Eggs x 120 / bronze x 3, silver x 1, gold x 1 (23 scale points)

Example: If set to calculate the top two shifts for number of Golden Eggs collected and single top shift for scale points.

Top Score

There are three ways the total score may be calculated. The director sets one of these when creating the tournament.

Compete for the top Golden Eggs collected and scale points gained (first shift only) in the number of shifts specified by the tournament director. All shifts, both wins and losses, are included in the calculation.

Three Types of Calculation Methods

In Salmon Run tournaments using Tournament Manager, players are split into divisions based on team size and must compete for the highest team score in their division. There are four divisions—Solo, Pair, Trio, and Team—and the director selects which divisions will be held. It is possible to hold multiple divisions simultaneously in a single tournament. Divisions with fewer than two teams entered will be canceled.

If You Enter in the Solo, Pair, or Trio Divisions

You will do shifts as a team of four with remaining players supplied from Regular Jobs or Big Runs.

New players will be recruited for each shift, so the same players will not fight in consecutive shifts.

Players participating in the Salmon Run tournament will never become recruited players for another team. Additional players will always be recruited from the pool of players outside the tournament.

About Divisions

In Salmon Run tournaments, players compete for the top score by completing shifts within a set time limit. The tournament director selects one of the following for the tournament schedule.

Note: There is a 15-minute interval between preliminary and final rounds to allow for calculation.

For schedules that include preliminaries, two rounds will be held—preliminaries and finals.

In the finals round, participants will be split into several groups based on the results of the preliminaries and compete for rankings within the same group. The tournament director can set how many teams will be in each group.

Tournament results will be published 10 minutes after the round ends.

About Salmon Run Tournament Rules

Depending on the tournament, you can enter with substitutes. Noncaptain members can freely swap in. Check the details of your current tournament for the time in which members can swap.

The entering player will be made the team captain. The captain can edit and check in team members, announce results, and more. Additionally, the captain of the team at the top of the bracket will be the tournament-room host during matches and is the only one who can set or change game modes and stages.

You can choose an existing team when entering.

To participate in a tournament, you must create a team as its representative member or select an existing team to join. Following that step, you can invite other players to join in order to meet the number of team players required.

If you''re entering a Tournament Manager tournament for the first time, you''ll need to create a team. One rep can enter for the whole team.

Make a picture of your team after the tournament using the pictures in SplatNet 3''s album.

Participating team members will see the commemorative pictures at the top of the home screen and in Records.

Here you can change invited members. A captain can remove any member, but noncaptains can only remove themselves.

For tournaments with "Only ranked teams can participate," members cannot be changed after they have gathered.

For tournaments held with Tournament Manager, there''s one Tournament Overview page that you can use to check details or enter the tournament. Select the URL provided by the director on the Tournament Overview to access SplatNet 3 and proceed.

If the match is ready to start, a check-in notice will display on the captain''s screen. Team members'' screens will show the check-in conditions.

Checking in is to confirm that the team is assembled and the match can start. The battle cannot continue until both captains check in.

Fill in the related details, and select Inquire. You''ll get the director''s response on this screen.

You can choose previous teammates or current teammates and send them a tournament invite.

If there is a communication error or mistake in the mode settings, you can play more than the set number of battles. If this happens, you can edit the results.

If the details of the report from both teams match, it will be set as the result. If the details conflict or the match''s winners cannot be decided, you can request arbitration by using Contact Director.

Once check-in is complete, a Tournament Manager room will appear in the Private Battle friend list. You can wait there for the battle to start. Please do not enter if you are not joining the battle to ensure the director can spectate.

If the captain cannot participate after the registration period ends and the teams are decided, the captain can withdraw the team. It does not count as canceling the entry. If you withdraw, you lose by default.

The captain can cancel a tournament entry until the registration period ends and the teams are decided.

Unlike normal tournaments, there is no need to check in, control modes or stages, or edit and report match results.

Please also be aware of the following points:

Teams whose members do not gather in the Tournament Manager room by the deadline will automatically be withdrawn.

If a match is excessively prolonged, both teams will be withdrawn.

Battles will automatically start once all participants enter the Tournament Manager room. Battle results will be reported automatically.

Once started, battles will not be suspended, even if some players disconnect due to communication errors, etc.

It is not possible to force an end to a battle and restart it.

There is no feature for contacting the director.

Be sure to review Tournament Manager to see info on the next match and tournament progress.

The team''s captain and its members can use the invite feature.

Teams without the required number of participants by the registration deadline will be disqualified.

You can send an invite link to prospective teammates.

Start the battle once the competing players enter the Tournament Manager room.

Please wait for the spectating player to start.

Besides invites, you can change team members, change captains, or cancel entry from the tournament page.

If you are a captain, you can hand the position to another member.

Once the set number of battles are finished, captains can report the results. Both captains enter the results. If the results match, it counts as a valid match and appears on the bracket.

The team captain at the top of the bracket is the host. A hosting captain can confirm the mode, stage, etc. and change the room settings.

You can save a commemorative picture to the { 0 } of the tournament you participated in.

Start the battle once the competing and spectating players enter the Tournament Manager room.

How to Participate

A match is a face-off between two teams where a winner and a loser are decided. Each match can be comprised of multiple battles, and normally the winner is the team that wins the most battles.

The person who is running the tournament. They are generally the one who set up the tournament and are in charge of its progression.

A group of matches, such as "Round One," "Final Round," etc. 

How to Find the Tournament You Want

Saving Search Conditions

This is a win rate for individual battles. It is calculated as wins divided by battles.

GW% (Game Win Percentage)

If two teams have the same OGW%, the team with the lower entry number will rank higher.

# (Entry Number)

It''s an indicator of how tough an opponent is. Those who battle teams with high battle win rates will have a high OGW%.

This is the average GW% (Game Win Percentage) for your opponents so far.

To prevent excessive ranking loss as a result of battling opponents with low GW%, OGW% is calculated from a base value of 33.33% for low-GW% opponents.

OGW% (Opponent Game Win Percentage)

It''s an indicator of how tough an opponent is. Those who battle teams with high win rates will have a higher OMW%.

This is the average MW% (Match Win Percentage) for your opponents so far. 

MW% is a win rate calculated as match wins divided by matches.

To prevent excessive ranking loss as a result of battling opponents with low MW%, OMW% is calculated from a base value of 33.33% for low-MW% opponents.

OMW% (Opponent Match Win Percentage)

If playoffs are on, the background colors on the table indicate the teams advancing to the playoffs.

In each round, winners get 3 points, losers get 0 points, and teams on a bye get 1 point.

Teams may get a bye when there are an odd number of participating teams.

In Salmon Run tournaments, players can compete based on the number of Golden Eggs collected and scales gained in Salmon Run shifts.

A Tournament Manager room will be created automatically when the tournament starts, and participants will be notified about how to proceed. Tournament Manager automatically tracks battle records and shift results.

Battle tournaments will include detailed data for each battle and the ability to schedule downloads of battle replays. You can even upload a commemorative picture after the tournament. Salmon Run tournaments will include each team''s cumulative data, including the number of Golden Eggs collected and Boss Salmonids defeated. A Tournament Record Certificate will be issued after the tournament.

You can enter a tournament by joining or creating a team. After creating a team, recruit members by sending the invite URL to prospective teammates.

You can also add members and join tournaments!

If you create or join a tournament, the results will be recorded on My Page.

You can also set your favorite stages, weapons, etc.

You can pair the teams entered in the tournament to create a bracket.

Tournament Manager is a support service for people holding or participating in Splatoon 3 tournaments. Tournament Manager connects with the Splatoon 3 game and with SplatNet 3 to provide helpful features for tournament creation and entry, as well as tools for directors to help run them smoothly. Both battle and Salmon Run tournaments are supported.

You can view records of tournaments you''ve played in.

You can set a different team member as team owner if necessary.

You can select the Edit button to the right of your nickname to edit your favorite weapons, stages, and modes.

If you change a team name, you''ll have to wait 30 days to change it again.

The owner of a team can edit its Team Page. Players may remove themselves from a team but may not otherwise edit any information.

You can select multiple modes as favorites.

You can select up to three favorite weapons. Any weapons that you choose will also show up on the Team Page.

You can view records of tournaments you''ve hosted as a director or codirector.

A team owner can remove members. If members who have been removed from a team participate in a tournament with the team again, they will be reinstated to the Team Page. A team may have a maximum of 100 members. Even when a team is full, it is possible to invite new members and join a tournament. However, they will not be added to Members Who Have Played on the Team Page.

Your activity in this app will be saved on My Page alongside your favorite weapons and stages as a tournament participant.

There''s also a Team Page with additional team information.

As a tournament participant, you can list your favorite weapons and stages, as well as teams that you''ve played for. Other players will be able to view your profile.

Teams that you''ve played for in tournaments will be displayed here. You can choose whether to show or hide each team.

Select a team on My Page to view your Team Page. It contains information about your tournament records and results, other participants, and more.

After creating a tournament, the director can add codirectors.

Adding codirectors is a great way to make the workload of directing a tournament more manageable.

Codirectors have the same level of control as the director, with the exception of the ability to cancel or delete tournaments.

You can still host a tournament if some or all of the teams that you invited did not register. In that case, teams on the wait list will automatically be registered in the order they signed up.

You can add codirectors from your friend list. You can also remove codirectors who have been added.

Notifications will be sent to any codirectors who have been added.

Friends who are unable to direct tournaments cannot be added as codirectors. 

You can set different win requirements for the semifinal and final rounds specifically.

Tournaments that run for 12 hours past the start time without ending will be automatically canceled.

When a matchup between two opponents is set for the next round and automatic round progression is enabled, the match will begin as soon as both teams are prepared. In tournaments with preliminaries, automatic progression is required regardless of whether automatic-progression settings are enabled. Please see the link below for more details.

The number of players who can participate in a battle.

Depending on the type of tournament you''re hosting, you can specify team sizes ranging from one to four.

This option does not restrict the number of players who can join the tournament room.

The number of battles required in order to decide one match.

If the number of required battle wins is set to two, each match will feature a maximum of three battles.

Remember that the higher you set the number of battle wins required to win a match, the longer the tournament will be overall. Be sure to check the Tournament Length Estimate and adjust as needed.

You can use the By Division feature to split a tournament into multiple divisions. The number of divisions you can set depends upon the number of participating teams. In preliminaries, the number of divisions is based on the number of teams advancing to the tournament.

The following settings cannot be changed after a tournament is created.

You can cancel or delete a tournament from the overview screen.

You can view the tournament bracket for details on specific matches. You can also download match-result edits, battle replays, and other info from the Splatoon 3 lobby terminal.

You can see details about how each match is going within the tournament bracket itself.

After registration is complete, the button to confirm participating teams will display. Before confirming, please configure { 0 } and { 1 } as necessary. Then open Participating Teams, and click or tap the button to confirm participating teams. Please note that it is also possible to confirm participating teams before registration ends. However, confirming participating teams while registration is still open will automatically end the registration period, and it is not possible to undo the action.

You can use this to create a new tournament with the same settings as a previous tournament.

All settings will be copied over, except for the tournament schedule and registration period.

Once all participating teams are confirmed, a tournament bracket will be created automatically. You''ll be able to manually edit the bracket, and once it''s ready, publish it. Be sure to not forget this step, as the tournament cannot begin without a bracket!

When enabled, users other than the director cannot view record details (such as weapons used) in the records during the tournament. They will also be unable to download battle replays.

When the tournament ends, record details are displayed and users can download battle replays.

If teams break the rules or intentionally make it difficult to progress the tournament, you can disqualify them.

Tournament directors have the ability to disqualify teams before or during a tournament.

You can disqualify a team before a tournament begins or after it is underway.

To disqualify a team, select Disqualify from that team''s menu.

Selecting Disqualify from a team''s menu will remove them from the tournament and send a notification to all members that they have been disqualified. Disqualified teams will still be visible to directors but not to tournament participants.

Players from any disqualified teams will not be able to reenter the same tournament—even on a different team.

If you''re using Tournament Manager in a web browser, you can download team info—including team names, player names, and more—in CSV format, which can be reviewed in a spreadsheet editor. The following information is available.

If necessary, a tournament director can edit the results of a match. However, you cannot edit the results for the final game in a preliminary or tournament round (including the final round).

Once set, the results cannot be edited unless the next opponent has not been decided yet. In those cases, results can be edited up until the point at which the next opponent is decided.

You can edit results as much as needed until you press the button to start the next round.

You can change tournament settings up until the participating teams are confirmed. Participants will only be notified if the tournament schedule changes. { 0 }

The period of time during which teams can sign up to participate.

Once the participating teams are confirmed, tournament settings can no longer be changed.

A team that does not meet the required number of players by the end of the registration period will automatically have their entry canceled.

Be sure to leave enough time between the registration deadline and the start of the tournament—you''ll want to give yourself ample time to publish the tournament bracket and have players view it.

When the last match of the final round of the tournament is complete, the tournament results will be displayed.

If you enable Primary Abilities Only, secondary abilities will have no effect in the tournament.

If you change this setting, it will automatically take effect in the Tournament Manager room.

The room''s host can change these settings later.

Be sure to progress the tournament as needed using the bracket and the navigation in the purple area as a guide. You''ll find additional information under Navigation that can help you troubleshoot any concerns.

If there are multiple divisions, the director can check each division''s progress from Navigation.

A type of tournament in which the teams that win get to keep playing.

In elimination tournaments, you can turn preliminary rounds off or on.

If there are no preliminaries, all teams will participate in the full bracket.

If preliminaries are enabled, all teams will be divided into groups of 3-10 for preliminary rounds. Only top-ranked teams will advance to the final bracket.

If there are fewer than six participating teams, or the teams do not exceed the Number of Teams per Group setting, preliminaries will be disabled by default.

When preliminary rounds are enabled, you can specify how many teams are in a preliminary group.

If the number of participating teams cannot be divided by the number of teams per group, the number of teams per group will be revised automatically.

When preliminary rounds are enabled, you can specify how many teams per preliminary group can advance.

You can split a tournament bracket into multiple divisions.

After the participating teams are confirmed, you can set up divisions by editing the bracket.

The order will be determined by the following rules:

Matches Won > Battles Won > Battles Lost > Head-to-Head Matchup > Registration Date (Entry Number)

A type of tournament in which teams play each other in turn.

If a team substitutes players after the end of the registration period, you can see the details in Edit History.

You can set aside space for invited teams with this setting.

With Set as Invited Team, you can assign a registered team as an invited team.

If you like, you can set two reserve players per team. Reserve players do not count toward the total number of players required based on your tournament format.

A single team can contain up to six players.

Any additional players beyond the minimum required will be set as reserves. For example, if you register six players on a team in a four vs. four tournament, two players will be set as reserves.

You can''t set spectator settings while you are still participating in matches as a player.

Please enable this setting if there are special rules that cannot be enforced using Tournament Manager. When enabled, "This tournament has special rules" will display on the Tournament Overview page.

Please note that any special rules outside the scope of Tournament Manager will need to be explained separately—possibly via a tournament website or social media.

When this is enabled, Display in Search Results is automatically set to "Do not display." Since it is not possible to explain unique rules to participants, these cannot be included in search results.

The participation history for a player''s five most recent battle tournaments is shown under their icon. The color of the ● indicates their team rank color at the time of participation (for "Only ranked teams can participate" tournaments only). A - mark indicates withdrawal or disqualification.

As soon as a matchup is set and both teams are prepared, the next round will begin immediately. Check out the Navigation section to see how many matches remain for each round.

When all matches in the current round are decided, a button to begin the next round will appear in Navigation. The director may then start the next round as soon as they''re ready.

The optimal settings for a tournament may vary depending on its size.

In all cases, preparing announcements, setting rules, and other tasks can take a significant amount of time. Consider leaving yourself some buffer time by setting a long registration period, and be sure that your schedule will accommodate your duties as a tournament director.

When your tournament bracket is complete, select Publish to release it to all participants for review. Once published, a bracket cannot be taken down. All participants will receive a notification when the bracket is published.

If you make changes to the modes or stages, they will automatically be reflected in the Tournament Manager room.

Select from the following modes: Turf War, Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, or Clam Blitz.

If you set multiple modes, Tournament Manager rooms will display the first mode selected. It will not automatically update after the first mode, so action on the part of the room''s host is required. Directors should notify participants in advance how to change modes.

Each match in the round will start at the same time.

If there are multiple matches in a round where the director is set as the room''s host, competing teams will stand by until the director arrives.

For example, while the Team VeronIKA vs. Team Takoroka match is in progress, Team Barry and Team Erick will stand by until the director arrives.

If you want to be sure that you''re able to spectate both matches, please use the { 0 } feature.

When a Tournament Cannot Be Displayed

To assign invited teams, be sure to select Set as Invited Team from each team''s menu.

You can designate codirectors to have specific roles other than the default "staff," such as "streamer" or "commentator."

Each codirector''s role will be displayed in the tournament outline and in the Management section after the tournament concludes.

In Simple tournaments, all director actions besides the Start Tournament button are automated. The tournament progresses without communication between the director and participants.

Participant (team captain) check-in through Tournament Manager

In order to automate progression in Simple tournaments, deadlines are set for before battles and ending them. Teams where members have not gathered by the deadline for determining members will be automatically withdrawn. If a member leaves before a scheduled battle, the battle will start with the current members, even if the member left due to circumstances such as a communication error. It is not possible to force an end to battles and restart them. In the event of an excessively prolonged match, both teams will be withdrawn.

Select which stages can be used in battles.

Will not be removed if the battle is interrupted without a victor.

If all stages are removed, the next battle will randomly select a stage from the entire pool designated for use in the tournament.

When you reach the scheduled start time for a tournament, a Start Tournament button will display under Navigation. The director can select this button to begin the tournament when ready. You can also start a tournament before its scheduled start time by choosing "Starting a tournament before the scheduled start time." Be aware that once you start the tournament, it cannot be undone.

To adjust matchups in your bracket, select Edit Bracket from the main bracket screen.

Select the first team that you want to swap.

On the next screen, choose another team and select Swap.

If the swapped teams look good, you can select Save to save the bracket.

Swiss-style is a format where teams with similar win-loss records battle each other. All teams play until the end of the tournament.

Round 1 opponents are determined randomly.

Rankings are decided by comparing factors according to the following priority:

Points > OMW% > GW% > OGW% > # (entry number)

Results are displayed on Swiss-Style Rankings, which update at the end of each round.

In Swiss-style tournaments, you can turn playoffs on or off. 

Playoffs are a deciding tournament that only the top teams in the Rankings participate in.

The winning team is decided based on the Swiss-Style Rankings.

The director can specify how many teams advance to the playoffs.

Organizing a Tournament

To run a successful tournament, directors should check out the Pretournament Prep and Managing a Live Tournament sections.

Note your { 0 }. You must have an active membership to use Tournament Manager.

If any participants have filed an inquiry, an alert will be displayed in Navigation. A tournament director or codirector will need to review the details and resolve the issue. Select Resolved when the issue has been resolved, and the alert will be removed.

An alert will also be triggered if a specific match is taking significantly longer than expected.

The tournament director can enter a Tournament Manager room as a spectating player.

In Simple tournaments, the Become Room Host setting cannot be used.

If you select Become Room Host in the spectator settings, you''ll also need to check in.

After all spectators and team captains have checked in, the Tournament Manager room will be displayed. As host, you can start the battle by joining the Tournament Manager room from the friend list in the Private Battle menu.

If a spectator slot is available, you can check into a match and view the same screen as the competing teams that are also waiting to check in. You can wait there until the match begins.

When both teams have checked in, the Tournament Manager room will be displayed under Friends in the Private Battle menu. At this point, you can enter the room and spectate. The team captains (listed at the top of the bracket) will manage settings including the battle rules, stages, and so on.

You can access Tournament Manager from the home screen in SplatNet 3.

Features for tournament directors can be used from any web browser.
